Clare Robinson: Fantasy Author

Enter the magical journey of Elvira, a captivating middle grade fantasy novel.

Enter Elvira’s world

She has no comprehension of the magic within her, the beast who hunts her, or the man who will leave her.

Our story starts in the world as we know it. Elvira is a 16yr old girl, just trying to fit in with her school friends, and pass her exams. Inside she can feel a power growing.

Is she imagining it?

The power wants to get out. What will happen if it does?

Will it damage the world?

Elvira doesn’t know which would be worse. Having some sort of terrifying destructive power contained in her small human body, or slowly going crazy. She’s scared to find out, but the feelings are building. She can’t keep it hidden forever.

What happens when people find out?

About the author

I’m a writer, a mother, and a dentist. As a person, I have high levels of empathy, which sometimes helps me to understand the way people around me might be feeling.

I draw on this for my fabricated characters in my stories. Creating realistic characters with a good depth of personality.

Are you ready to join Elvira on her adventure?

It’s time to start getting excited. This paperback version of the book has just been released on Amazon, and the ebook will be released for sale very soon.

What a cracking read, and a real unputdownable page turner!!

I gobbled it all up first time around and became completely immersed in it. I had to come back to read it a second time to savour it even more!

There are so many wonderful riches in the book it’s impossible to mention them all, but I loved the exquisite descriptions of nature that made my heart soar! And the contrast between the greedy, nature-blind Throcks and the sensitive, intelligent Challuquans with their reverent awareness of nature is a brilliant allegory for the colonisers of the past, and our current problems with the extractive economy and climate change.

Your characters are so real and robust I feel I know (and love!) each one of them. I can’t wait for the second book now as I’m missing them all. And I really enjoyed the lovely supportive relationship the group of friends have together. And the wonderful positive depiction of masculinity with such strong nurturing, caring, responsible, generous, compassionate and good humoured aspects of their characters. It’s also great that the group of friends had such different family backgrounds.

I got goosebumps when Nieve and Bill met Shea for the first time!

I love the way Bill, Elvira and John use breathing techniques to calm themselves and/or situations. That’s a great way to teach young people how to be aware of themselves and their emotions and how to use breath work.

Also great insights into parental psychology and family situations which will help teens navigate difficult interpersonal situations and show them a different perspective on things. And relate to others’ emotions

The menacing paragraphs about Erythropoetus add even more layers of tension and intrigue to the story. You have an incredible ability to create tension and suspense - all through the story.
